The speed and sound of the rolling stock; the engineering expertise of the network; its nostalgic and impressive history; modern and exciting architecture; the awe-inspiring sight of a train wending its way over centuries-old viaducts through dramatic landscapes: whatever it is that you enjoy about the railway, please be careful, stay safe and don’t trespass.

If you love the railway, we love to hear from you and see your photography. You can follow us on social media and share your images with us by tagging @networkrail on TwitterFacebook and Instagram.

Or why not enter our Lines in the Landscape Award, part of the annual Landscape Photographer of the Year competition? (Jon Martin’s winning entry for 2017, First train crossing Barmouth Bridge, is shown above.) The winning and runner-up images tour Britain in our stations.

Safety first

Please enjoy the railway from a safe distance. Do not trespass on any area of the railway that is not available to passengers. Trespassing on the railway is a criminal offence and dangerous. It risks your life as well as the lives of others, endangering passengers and railway workers.

Station staff may sometimes ask you to move to another part of the station or to leave, but they will be happy to help explain this. There are safety and other considerations, and it is helpful if you avoid peak travel times.
