Built Environment Accessibility Panel
Our independent panel of experts supports us to plan spaces and places for everyone.
The panel provides us with expert advice about making built environments accessible, helping us to improve our customers’ experience, promote inclusive design and meet the needs of customers with disabilities.
The voluntary panel is made up of passengers with lived experience of disability and accessibility specialists. They provide valuable knowledge, lived experience and advice for applying inclusive design. The panel supports Network Rail to deliver an inclusive and accessible railway for all, connecting people with where they need to be.
Since BEAP was founded 10 years ago, the panel has supported over 400 rail projects, ensuring that the needs of rail users are considered in the designs of stations, depots, offices, lineside buildings and external spaces.
The panel meets every month to review projects, work with teams to identify potential barriers to accessibility and provide practical advice to make rail travel more accessible.
Membership is voluntary and the panel meets every month at venues across the country.
